AFA (Asian Film Academy) takes the submission for its first edition opening in Sept.


AFA, or Asian Film Academy, is now taking application from prospective future Asian filmmakers for its first edition opening in Sept.. AFA is a workshop program Pusan International Film Festival is launching this year to educate students from all over Asian region. 20 selected students and 8 teaching assistants will be given chances to learn from prominent Asian filmmakers, shot their own shorts, and visit Pusan International Film Festival as well. Students will be also eligible for long-term scholarship program run by 
Korean Academy of Film Arts (KASP) and Dongseo University. Submission deadline is July 31st.


AFA: September 24 to October 14, 2005
AFA will take place in two separate cities in Korea, Seoul for the first and Busan for the second part.
1st Workshop (Seoul) 24~30 September, 2005 (preliminary Workshop)
2nd Workshop (Busan) 1~14 October, 2005 (training and lectures)


Application Deadline: July 31 2005


Announcement of Selected Participants: August 31, 2005


Eligibility
1. TA (Teaching Assistant): Advanced Level
Applicant who has much experiences in filmmaking or is currently working in field as professional
2. Fellow: Beginning to Intermediate Level
Applicant who has a little experiences in film works or beginner


*Applicants must submit completed application and supporting materials
on time
* Applicants must be able to attend all the necessary 3-weeks programs
during AFA
* All the programs for AFA will be carried out in English
* All applicants must be from Asian regions


Application Checklist

2.Personal Statement
-All applicants must submit a personal statement
-It must be in English and up to 2 pages in A4
-It must contain information below
>Introduce yourself with a focus on your experience in film works
>Why you apply for AFA
>Your background and experience in film works
>Your goals and plans in film works


3. Portfolio Reel (sample of your work)
TA
-If you are applying for TA, you must submit A PORTFOLIO REEL
which he/she has had primary creative input.
-SCREENPLAY or TREATMENT/SYNOPSIS must be submitted along with the portfolio reel
1)Portfolio Reel (Requirement)
-This reel may have entire works or a segment of work on which you have had primary creative input. The length of the reel should not exceed 5 minutes.
-If you cannot edit your portfolio to 5 minutes, you should have mark or cue on the spot where you would like to present.
-AFA will not review your entire portfolio.
-AFA accepts VHS/DVD/MiniDV/CD. You must mark the format (NTSC/PAL/SCAM) on your material and Supporting Materials Contents Sheet.
2)Screenplay OR Treatment and Synopsis (Requirement)
-You must submit the screenplay or the treatment of less than 5 pages with 1 page of synopsis of the portfolio reel.


Fellow
1)Screenplay OR Treatment and Synopsis (Requirement)
-If you are applying for Fellow, you must submit a treatment of less than 5 pages with 1 page of synopsis OR a finished screenplay
2)Portfolio Reel (Optional for Fellow)
-This reel may have entire works or a segment of work on which you have had primary creative input. The length of the reel should not exceed 5 minutes.
-If you cannot edit your portfolio to 5 minutes, you should have mark or cue on the spot where you would like to present.
-AFA will not review your entire portfolio.

4.Recommendation Letter
-Applicants must have a recommendation letter from a person associated with filmmaking, such as filmmaker professors/faculty of film school, and so forth. It should be someone who knows you the best and supports your talent in filmmaking

Award
- Study Abroad Program in Korea
KAFA Asian Scholarship Program by Korean Academy of Film Arts (KASP)


DASP Dongseo Asian Scholarship Program by Dongseo University


Both scholarships will train promising young talents from all over Asia through an intensive one-year program focusing on practical filmmaking skills. KAFA will also provide six months of Korean language training prior to the program.

2.AFA will provide all travel expenses including round trip flight ticket (economy) and accommodations for the selected participants.
