    1993年夏，中原地区的一个小县城，陈思绪已经是第四次高考落榜了。再也无法忍受年复一年看不见希望的考试，他说服了一起上补习班的女友郭萍，去追寻一种神奇的灵芝培育术，以青春热血赢得金钱以及世界的尊重。
    没有告知任何人，他们带着家里给的买复习资料的钱，双双踏上了离家之路。在火车上，试图逃票的陈思绪被处以罚款，转车后，他们来到长江边的一个码头。船票远比他们想象的昂贵，幸而他们结识了小淮滨，这个煤船伙计说服老板带他们两个一起前往武汉。航程中他们遭遇了抢劫，思绪和郭萍被船老板当做灾星撵下了船。
    等他们终于到了江城武汉，却发现灵芝培育术只是一个虚假的广告。他们不愿就这样回家，在中原大地继续他们的流浪之旅，前往商城去寻找新的致富目标——提取类固醇。商城一个自称郑大姐的人，以优惠的价格卖给他们类固醇菌种，他们怀着欣喜走上回家的路。
    回家之后，思绪和郭萍忍受着家人的打骂和追问，一边回补习班上课，一边在防空洞里做实验提取类固醇。一个星期之后，他们只得到一堆残渣，意识到他们受骗了。他们非常愤怒，可甚至没有路费去讨个说法。郭萍提议骑自行车去商城，两个人就这么出发了，这时距高考只有十四天，两个家庭仍旧被蒙在鼓里。
    自由的自行车之旅如同一次快乐的春游，但再次见到郑大姐，她居然拒绝承认欺骗。思绪僵持在接待处不走，郭萍却在外面遭受小流氓的纠缠，思绪和冲出去打架，小流氓要去叫人。狡猾的郑大姐此时把一半钱还给他们，两人只能仓促而走。
    回去的路上，他们被当地的路卡强行征收自行车税，思绪被人打了。他终于意识到他们一直在走的是一条绝望之旅，不可能挣到钱，也不可能得到世界的尊重，唯一的出路还是高考。郭萍不这么想，可是她听思绪的话，再试一次。
    然而思绪的父母已经绝望，给他两千块钱让他出去打工，而郭萍在受到哥哥的一顿毒打之后，跑出了家门。思绪从来没有像现在这样希望去上补习班，然而当郭萍求他跟自己一起去南方的时候，他无法拒绝，这已经是对一个女孩子的道义问题。
    这一次他们躲过了家人的追赶，完全是徒步旅行。起先是思绪自虐般地加快速度，用身体的疲惫来解脱精神的痛苦，郭萍在后面勉强追赶。可走着走着，思绪面临着崩溃，而郭萍却似乎超越了身体的极限，行走如飞，看上去如此美丽。
    他们开始争吵，分手，彼此在国道上寻找失踪对方，最后又神奇地相遇。在那个晚上，郭萍忍受不了思绪内心里的背弃，两人第一次做爱。
    漫漫长路已成为两人体力与精神上的双重煎熬，第二天，郭萍独自一个人走向未知的远方，思绪不再寻找，走上了回家之路。
    
    《旅程》根据真实的人生经历创作，制作者们也都是年轻人。影片通过一对年轻人的艰难旅程，表现青春残酷的主题。这个电影最大特色是它由三段旅程构成，第一段年轻人乘火车和船，贫穷给他们带来屈辱和挫折；第二段他们骑自行车，相对的自由给他们旅行的快乐；第三段是徒步旅行，他们的精神濒临崩溃，却也在对身体极限的冲击中找到希望和成熟的力量。其余在旅程和家庭中发生的事情，用以体现社会和传统文化所蕴藏的环境压力，从而反衬出年轻人和理想者勇敢向上的精神与气质。
    这是一个关于梦想和爱情的故事，它探讨了一个中国普通青年能够在多大程度上坚持自己的理想。爱和青春是他们唯一可依赖的力量，但在梦想遭遇挫折甚至破灭之后，是坚持信念虚怀希望，还是步入现实正轨，这不同的选择对成长提出了不同的成熟标准。
    
    
    
    In a small county town in the interior of China, during the 1990’s, a boy and a girl have already failed their college exams 4 times. So they decide to take another path in life; they will leave home for the city to find a miraculous new planting technology, and bring it back home to make their fortune.
    Without telling their parents, they take money that was meant for buying books, and leave home on a train. They then transfer to a steamship. The tickets are all more expensive than they expected, so they have no choice but to find way avoid buying tickets, and the trip is full of humiliation and troubles.
    When they reach the big city, only then do they discover that the miraculous new breeding technology was just a case of false advertising. Unwilling to return home defeated, they continue to live a vagrant life in the city, until finally they find another new farming technology.
    After much trouble getting home, they naturally must endure a good chastising from their parents. As they get back to their night-time remedial classes, they surreptitiously begin to experiment with their new technology. But they soon discover that the so-called technology they spent their money on was just another scam. But now they no longer even have the money to make the trip back to complain.  
    Just a few days from the next college entrance exams, they are no longer able to endure the humiliation of being cheated. This time, they make the difficult journey to the city by bicycle. But in the end they only recover half their money, which is soon stolen by gangsters.
    The boy finally understands that getting into college is the only path available to him. But his parents have already given up hope; they give him some cash and tell to find a job. The girl, however, is still full of hope for the world. Unable to take the beatings and abuse from her family, she decides to leave home and explore the world. The boy has no choice but to leave with her, since their two previous trips have already given them a reputation of having eloped.
    On their third and final trip out of the village, they travel by foot. The girl walks faster as she goes, her whole body radiating a strange energy. The boy, however, hasn’t changed. It may be that he still wishes to go home and take the college exams. Inevitably, the two of them argue, and then make love for the first time. Afterward, it’s as if they have now become adults. The boy decides to return home. But the girl must continue on alone, walking into the unknown distance.
    
    YANG CHAO, the director, master’s degree holder form Beijing Film Academy, his short film was entered into competition at Cannes & Taiwan Film Festival. With experience in several TV productions, “ The Journey” will be his debut feature film.
    
    ZHANG XI GUI, the photographer, worked with Chinese young talent director LOU YE and LU XUE CHANG several films in recent years.
    
    Geng Le, the main actor, is one of the hottest young actors in China’s screen now.
    
    CHANG JIE PING, the main actress, was a police school teacher, had her performing courses in Central Drama Academy, actually the story come from her truly life experience.
    
    
    主创人员简介
    导演：杨超
    北京电影学院导演系本科班毕业，1997年编剧、导演故事短片《待避》获2001年第54届戛纳电影节电影基金会竞赛第三名，2002年台北电影节国际学生电影竞赛银狮奖。九集电视连续剧《爱我家园》、三十集电视连续剧《留美房客》执行导演。
    摄影师：张锡贵
    北京电影学院故事片摄影系本科毕业，其摄影作品有《北京你早》《周末情人》《危情少女》《长大成人》《过年回家》，先后两次获中国电影金鸡奖最佳摄影奖提名，并因《刘天华》长春电影节最佳摄影奖。《卡拉是条狗》是他的最新作品。
    录音师：李折
    北京电影学院录音系本科毕业。电影《动词变位》《天上的恋人》的录音师。
    美术师：张丹青
    北京电影学院美术系本科毕业。电影《待避》《父老乡亲》《凤求凰》《鬼子来了》《风沙边缘》的美术师。
    制片人：杨海军
    北京电影学院导演系研究生毕业，有四年广告公司制作总监的经历，参与策划过多个电视栏目及网站栏目，参与制作《呼我》、《我晕了》、《摩天鹰架》等多部影视剧。
    男主角：耿乐　
    中央美术学院版画系毕业，现为中国国家话剧院演员，签约于北京天中文化发展有限公司，主要表演经历都是电影，是目前最活跃的电影小生，主演过《头发乱了》《阳光灿烂的日子》《赢家》《浪漫街头》《夏日情动》《赛龙夺锦》《北京ROCKS》《开往春天的地铁》。
    女主角：常洁萍
    曾任河南省郑州市警察学校教官，因为热爱表演艺术，考入中央戏剧学院表演系大专班学习，毕业后曾留学新加坡。虽没有职业演员的经历，但本片的故事却多少来自于她自己的人生经历。
    监制：田壮壮
    毕业于北京电影学院导演系，中国电影第五代著名导演，作品有《猎场札撒》《盗马贼》《摇滚青年》《大太监李莲英》等，他的《蓝风筝》曾获日本国际电影节“最佳影片奖”以及数个国际奖“最佳导演奖”，最新作品《小城之春》 获2002威尼斯电影节圣马可奖。担任监制的有《长大成人》、《扁担姑娘》、《巫山云雨》、《桃花满天红》。
    艺术顾问：谢飞
    中国电影家协会副主席，中国电影第四代著名导演，作品《湘女萧萧》《本命年》《香魂女》《黑骏马》多次荣获法国、西班牙、柏林等国际电影节大奖及国内电影大奖。
